Exhibition: Cool Schools

Upper Pool Studio

Studio Leader: Maud Cassaignau & Rutger Pasman

Industry partnered studio with: Environment Education Victoria, Overnewton College, Brimbank Council

2022-2023

The exhibition and event allowed the presentation to the partner school, stakeholders, council and NGO of the outcomes of a studio-based investigation into how school could adapt to the combined challenges of climate change, heat and biodiversity decline.

The landscape architecture students came up with different spatial strategies to overcome those challenges while creating more engaging spaces for play, rest, lunchtime, school pickups, but also for outdoor learning, performance, sport and environmental education. The interconnected strategies were presented though drawing and site models, which resulted in an animated discussion and a further engagement with a second school for a similar study.
