Victorian Premier’s Design Awards

Two groups of our Master of Landscape Architecture students have been awarded finalist places in the Victorian Premier’s Design Awards. Established by the Victorian Government in 1996, the Awards recognise and reward Victorian designers and businesses that display excellence in the way they use design. The student category the Awards assess work across all manner of design disciplines, including the built environment alongside other disciplines such as industrial design and web design.⠀

They entered their Food Delta project that was developed for an Upper Pool Studio lead by Charles Anderson. The project imagines an integration between guerrilla gardening, a mobile application, and various new landscape infrastructures in order to create new relationships within the Docklands community.

The Platform project was originally prepared for the NGV and Vic Health coordinated Victorian Design Challenge in 2018, and was selected as a finalist for that competition as well. The project proposes a strategic insertion at Noble Park Train Station that aims to foster entrepreneurship in young people. An intergenerational and community place in a busy hub beneath the new skyrail, Platform provides a physical platform for young people to start their own business. They are given a quality space in the public realm, alongside established social enterprises.
